EMILY BANARES WEDS BENEDICT BASBAS

Emily Banares married sweetheart Benedict Basbas in solemn catholic rituals at the Santa Rosa De Lima Church in Bacacay, Albay on April 3 and attended by relatives from both the Banares and Basbas clans. A garden reception followed at the lawn of the Banares Compound in Padre Banez Street. A light program capped off by dancing followed thereafter.

ONESIMO BANARES DIES AT 75

Onesimo Banares passed away at 10:00 am of March 3, 2004 at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) after a long battle with lung cancer. His body was laid in state at the La Funeraria Paz along Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. His remains were cremated at 9:00 am of March 5, 2004. He is survived by his wife Editha Cacanindin, children Ruth David, Ruby Sales, Ruben, Rose, Rodel and grandchildren.

Onesimo Banares will undergo aspiration to drain water from his lungs, according to close relatives. The aspiration will be done at the Meralco Headquarter's Cotton Hospital where his daughter Ruth is an executive.

Apolonia "Poning" Banares Dies

Apolonia Banares, Poning or Ponyang to her close friends and relatives, passed away on January 11, 2003 at their residence in Greenfields Subdivision, Ligtong, Rosario, Cavite. She is survived by husband Joventino, children Rey, Elena, Narciso, Willie, Nerissa, Sonny and Nina. The Banares clan extends its heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family.

Welcome to the Christian World, Justin Albert Chai!

July 28 2001 – Clanmates from all over Metro Manila gathered at Pilo's Restaurant in West Avenue, Quezon City to celebrate the "christening" of Albert and Julie (Ortiz) Chai's firstborn son, Justin Albert. The "offering ceremony", as it was called, was led by Albert's pastor friend who came all the way from the United States. Present to witness the ceremony were Ruben & Norma Pimentel, Onesimo & Editha Banares and children, the entire Ortiz Family, Jesus & Linda Banares and children, Ruth & Vic David, plus Albert's immediate family and friends.

Banares-Espares Nuptial

The Banares Clan barely had time to catch its breath after the wedding of Julie & Albert Chai when another clanmate, Jessie and Linda's second daughter Lorna married boyfriend Joel Espares. The couple were married in historic Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City on the morning of March 18.The wedding was officiated by the groom's uncle, who came all the way from Bicol just to say mass. Reception followed at Albergus Restaurant in Capitol Hills, also in Quezon City.

Julie Banares-Ortiz marries Albert Chua (Chai)

The youngest daughter of the late Mariano Ortiz and Natividad Banares exchanged "I do's" with fiancé Albert Chua (Chai) in ceremonies Marc h 12 held at the Cathedral of the Hoy Trinity in Forbes Park, Makati City. The ceremonies started with the procession of principal and secondary sponsors. The bride followed soon after disembarking from a white stretch Cadillac as the groom sang "I will be here". Reception followed at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Intercontinental Manila.
