Clanmates Vacation in Palawan

Clanmates Julie Ortiz, Jeselene, Marites, Maricar, Lorna and Rose Banares arrived at Manila's Port Area around 3 pm of April 9 after spending a week in the beautiful island of Palawan. The group stayed with the brother of Lina Mallari-Banares (wife of Jesus Banares) in Roxas, Palawan. The group got a chance to hit the different beaches Palawan is famous for. Among the resorts they visited were Capri Resort. They were also able to visit the renowned Crocodile Farm. Unfortunately, Rose Banares contracted German measles during their stay and had to be hospitalized for a few days.

Oning & Edith Banares Celebrate 40th Anniversary

Clanmates all over the Metro converged at the Seafood Market Restaurant at the Araneta Complex in Cubao on February 29 to attend the 40th anniversary celebration of Oning and Edith Banares. The couple's five children and their grandchildren were there to grace the occasion. Among the guests include friends and relatives of the couple including Oning's siblings Natividad, Jesus and wife Erlinda, Norma and husband Ruben and their children, to name a few. Also present to grace the affair were Edith's brother Atty. Justino Cacanindin, nephew Orlan and wife Lisa, showbiz reporter Aireen Nakpil of DWST, Chemphil vice President Rodolfo Eusebio, DWST director Ronnie Carrasco, Captain and Mrs. Bombasi, and Columnist. And Mrs. Faustino David.

JOEL BANARES DIES

The Banares Clan faced the new year with news of a tragedy: Joel Magtuba Banares, third child of Fidel S. Banares Sr. and Gaudencia Magtuba is dead. His death came as a surprise to the clan. He was the first blow to the third generation. His body lays in state at the Funeraria Nacional along Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. He left behind four children: JB, Chin-Chin, Denden and Jepoy. Joel was a devout follower of the El Shadai Catholci Charismatic Group led by Mike Velarde. At the time of his death, 10 prayer requests in the form of letters to God were found underneath his pillow.
