Esperanza Actress is Clan Relative
The white haired female majordomo of Jackie Lou Blanco in the popular ABS-CBN telenovela "Esperanza" is a clan relative, according to Onesimo Banares. Amable Quiambao-Viray, Ama to her friends and students, is a Bacacayena and a relative of the clan. She is a member of the Gantimpala Theater Company and has played on-screen roles such as the critically-acclaimed movie "Himala".

Jeselene Banares to Marry Long-time Boyfriend
Jeselene Banares, daughter of Jesus and Linda Banares, will marry long-time boyfriend Mark on December 27, 1998 at the San Sebastian Church in Manila. Reception will follow at the Sofitel Grand Boulevard Hotel along Roxas Boulevard. Maid of Honor is Jeselene's sister Lorna.

"Loleng" Lashes Bicol
Typhoon "Loleng" (international name "Mitch") passed through the province of Albay in the Bicol Region, destroying properties amounting to millions of Pesos in damages. In the Banares Compound in Bacacay alone, "Loleng" uprooted years-old trees and destroyed crops. No destruction was reported in the Clan mother house, also in Bacacay.

Ocular Inspection for Dreamland Set
An ocular inspection of the contested Dremland Resort and its facilities has been set by the Tabaco Regional Trial Court following the request of Atty. Guerrero, counsel for Jose Banares for the Court to conduct an ocular inspection of the area to prove once and for all whether or not improvements were made by Jose inside the resort. The inspection is set on November 18 1998.

Rodel Banares to Judge "Gintong Ilawan" Awards of DECS-AVON
Rodel Banares was chosen to represent the academic sector in this year's DECS-AVON "Teodora Alonso Gintong Ilawan Awards". He is part of a 4-person selection committee comprised of the president of Rotary Alabang, the president of New Era University and the Executive VP of the PNOC. Rodel is representing Angelicum College as its Head of the Office of Media & Public Relations. The selection finals will be on the 16th of November 1998 at the Makati Sports Club.
